Pop-Up Makerlands

Anylab entered an open call with the idea of ‘Pop-Up Makerlands’ into ‘Design in an Age of Crisis’ as part of the London Design Biennale. Our entry has received an *Expert Pick* (one of 12) around 500 applications from designers from over 50 countries and 6 continents. This global callout arranged by the London Design Biennale and Chatham House. Our design is being presented online now and displayed at a physical exhibition during the London Design Biennale in June.

Designer Thoughts

“What makes this open call so unique, I believe, is that it’s all about exchanging ideas across the globe. With this motivation; “Pop-Up Makerlands” is not something that we design out of thin air but something that already exists; something that is just waiting to be discovered and exchanged. The main message of the project is to propose a model of makerspace that takes community, work and nature into consideration. It is about creating something that would serve the needs of the community. And sometimes, “Pop-Up Makerland” is meant to stop people in their tracks, make them pay attention and inspire much needed conversation and action around making.” – Nurgül YARDIM MERİÇLİLER
