Nurgul Yardim Mericliler, PhD

Nurgul is a London-based architectural designer, communications consultant and researcher. She earned her PhD in Communication from Istanbul Bilgi University (2023), with a focus on London makerspaces. She received her degree in Bachelor of Architecture from the METU (2009, High Honours) with mansion prize at Arciprix graduation project and her Master of Urban Design from the ITU (2011). Nurgul started her career working on Emre Arolat Architects as a project architect. After this, Nurgul spent six years working at BKA Architects both as a Senior Architect and Head of Communications where she honed her experience in museum and cultural centre projects, exhibition design and leading a PR team experiencing in the interfaces of architecture, media, marketing, business development and events presented many diverse opportunities to express architecture studio’s vision to the world.

Currently, she manages Anylab Experimental Studio as a resident at Somerset House Studios, encompassing a wide range of fields including cities, architecture, sustainability, and culture. Her project, “Pop-Up Makerlands,” was selected as a co-chair pick in the “Design in an Age of Crisis” global open call and exhibited at the London Design Biennale.

Nurgul is also the producer and host of the Anylabtalks podcast, featuring interviews with emerging designers and creative minds, exploring their ideas of optimism for the future through contributions to the world of design. She collaborated with the Ecocity World Summit, the pioneering and longest-running global conference on ecology and cities for a special episode.

Nurgul is a regular speaker and moderator in international forums and delivered lectures at leading universities and organisations. Drawing from her extensive research and publication background, work in curation, writing and design allows her to delve into the role as a communicator, facilitating profound discussions about the future of cities and spaces.

Melis Salirli  / Architect

Melis studied MA Management at the University of Westminster following her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at Istanbul Bilgi University. She has experienced with skills in sales, teamwork, analysis and project management through working as an architect on high profile construction projects in the tourism industry and through target driven sales experience within the hotel sector.

Keyi Chen  / Service & Industrial Designer

Keyi studied Industrial Design MA/Masters at Central Saint Martins following her BA/Bachelor’s degree in Product Design. She has gained a variety of work and internship experience in different sub-fields of design, and the ability to collaborate with people, brands and projects in China and in the UK. Keyi is a creative and enthusiastic designer and she has been involved in several creative fields of consumer electronics, branding & packaging,  furniture design, UI & UX design, service design, fine art, photography and events planning.
